Witnesses told fire officials fireworks likely caused a homeless encampment fire Thursday in San Jose.
The fire was reported at 4:18 p.m. and burned 71 acres in the area of Capitol Expressway and Tuers Road. Firefighters said no injuries were reported in the blaze, which crews got under control shortly after 7 p.m.
The San Jose Fire Department said nine engines, two brush patrols, a water tender and two battalion chiefs responded to the fire.
