A shooter was barricaded in a Valinda home after exchanging gunfire with sheriff’s deputies Friday afternoon, authorities said.
The gunman was holed up in a residence on the 16900 block of Wing Lane, the Los Angeles County Fire Department said. A minor and a woman suffered injuries that the fire department said were mild to moderate.
The Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department said the woman was taken to a hospital for an injury that wasn’t caused by gunfire.
The LASD said deputies responded to a call about an assault with a deadly weapon, with the gunman firing rounds at the location. No deputies or residents were injured in the subsequent gunfight.
Neighbors were sheltering in place, the LASD said.
Valinda is an unincorporated area of Los Angeles County near La Puente.
