Search and recovery mission for man swept into ocean off Big Sur to resume

The Coast Guard and other first responders on Monday will resume their search for the body of a man swept out into the ocean near Big Sur.

Over the weekend, a large wave swept the man and two women off some rocks at Soberanes Point along the Monterey County coastline. The two women made it back to shore and are said to be OK, but the 30-year-old man never made it out.

A Coast Guard helicopter crew later spotted what they believe was his body but lost sight of him in the dangerous surf.

The search was suspended Sunday night but will resume Monday morning.
