A preliminary 2.5 magnitude earthquake struck near the cities of Sonoma and Napa early Thursday, according to the United States Geological Survey.
The quake hit at 4:51 a.m. and was centered about 8 miles north of Sonoma and 11 miles northwest of Napa, the USGS said.
No other information was immediately available. Updates to come.
