Oakland schools back in session amid water contamination issue

Tens of thousands of students are set to return to school Monday in Oakland, but for some families, there’s sudden uncertainty surrounding drinking water on their children’s campus.

Oakland Unified School District once again is dealing with elevated lead levels in some drinking fountains. Seven schools came back with positive tests for lead contamination in the drinking water coming out of those fixtures.

The issue prompted some parents to send their kids to school with bottled water.
