Man arrested after police shooting in Santa Clara

A man has been arrested following a police shooting in Santa Clara Saturday, authorities say.

Santa Clara police say they responded to the report of a domestic disturbance on Kiely Boulevard just after 11 a.m.

Officers found a man a short time later, holding a knife. They tried to get him to drop it, but they say he did not comply.

Police said one of the officers fired at the suspect, but he was not hit.

The suspect was arrested, then taken to the hospital to be treated for minor injuries. He remains in police custody.

Several residents told NBC Bay Area that they heard two gunshots in the area.

All lanes of Kiely Boulevard from Benton Street to Kaiser Drive were closed due the incident but has since been reopened.
