The legal battle over President Trump’s deployment of National Guard troops in California returns to federal court Monday.
The issue at trial is the response in June to protests against immigration raids in Los Angeles. On Monday, about 250 National Guard troops were still deployed in the area.
At one point in early June, roughly 4,000 National Guard troops and 700 U.S. Marines were present in California. The legal question is: Did the president act within his authority?
