Fatal Police Shooting Under Investigation in San Jose: SJPD

The suspect in a San Jose police shooting late Monday night died of his injuries, the San Jose Police Department confirmed early Tuesday morning.

Two officers were conducting a follow-up investigation Monday night in the 1100 block of Tofts Drive when they were confronted by the suspect. The police shooting then occurred, police said.

No other injuries were reported in the shooting.

It was not clear why the officers were at investigating the suspect, but a police spokesman said they were there for a very specific reason.

SJPD said evidence collection and the investigation into the shooting would be lengthy.

It’s the second fatal officer-involved shooting in San Jose this year, police said.

The two officers have been placed on two weeks of administrative leave, as is standard in police shootings, department spokesman Christian Camarillo said.

No other information was immediately available.
