Enjoy Night Adventures Inside Famous Gardens

Finding yourself in a flora-lush situation, when the moon is overhead, is rather rare.

For sunshine and enjoying the outdoors seems a more common pairing, at least when it comes to the visiting hours at some of Southern California’s larger public gardens.

Still, some gardens do have special after-hours holiday events, the kind of to-dos that find fabulous glowing sculptures placed among the trees and shrubs. But finding a nighttime garden event outside of the holidays, and the occasional summer soirée, is harder, though, for sure, they do happen.

And two just happen to be happening on the very same night at two magnificent gardens: The Los Angeles County Arboretum and Botanic Garden in Arcadia and Descanso Gardens in La Cañada Flintridge.

Nope, it isn’t the holidays, nor summer, so you’ll want to jump into one of these, if you love plant-filled wonderlands in the moonlight.

Night Garden: Campfire Stories is the intriguing Descanso Gardens event. The Feb. 9 to-do, which is on from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m., will include opportunities to discover more “… about nocturnal animals, view the constellations, get a warm drink and listen to stories by the light of a ‘campfire.'”

A ticket is $15.

A Family Night Hike Adventure is on the Feb. 9 calendar at LA Arboretum. These adventures do pop up on the Arboretum’s schedule more often, but if you’ve been wanting to stretch a leg after the rain alongside your tots, sign them up for a chance to “… explore the landscape through interactive activities.” Bats, coyotes, and “the occasional owl” may be seen, cool.

Tickets for non-member children are $15 each, while adults are $5 each.
