A two-alarm apartment fire in San Rafael injured at least eight people and displaced dozens Thursday morning, according to officials at the scene.
One of the injured residents was taken to a hospital while the others were treated at the scene, officials said.
In an advisory around 6:35 a.m., the San Rafael Police Department said officers were keeping roadways clear for emergency crews in the 500 and 600 blocks of Canal Street, as well as Harbor Street, Hoag Street and Medway Road because of the fire.
A shelter-in-place order was in effect in the area of the fire, officials said.
“The fire is currently being contained by fire personnel,” the department said in a statement.
A power outage was affecting about 3,800 PG&E customers in the area, the utility said. It’s unclear if the outage is connected to the fire.
No additional details were immediately available.
