2-alarm fire destroys small gym at Amador Valley High School in Pleasanton

A two-alarm fire destroyed the small gymnasium at Amador Valley High School in Pleasanton Sunday night, the Livermore-Pleasanton Fire Department said.

Firefighters told NBC Bay Area that they responded to the fire at the school’s small gym at around 8 p.m. The building is about 100 years old, a school official said.

The main gym at the school in the 1100 block of Santa Rita Road was not affected, fire officials said.

The school will remain open for Monday classes with no disruption to the schedule anticipated, school officials said.

The cause of the fire was not immediately known and is under investigation.

No other details were released.
