WWII soldier from Livermore laid to rest after being MIA for 80 years

Firefighters gained the upper hand on a brush fire late Friday in South San Jose.

The blaze, which burned over 14 acres, was reported near the Guadalupe Landfill in Almaden Valley, authorities said.

Crews from the San Jose Fire Department and Cal Fire responded to the fire, which was burning at a moderate rate of spread. Officials reported the fire was 70% contained.

Firefighters said forward progress of the blaze was stopped at 5:08 p.m.
