Video: Road rage leads to violence in Santa Clarita

A man was arrested after a violent road rage incident in Santa Clarita led to a bloody confrontation.

Leon Hernandez, 39, is in the hospital after a man slashed his hand with a knife during a confrontation over a road rage incident. According to the victim, the violence happened around noon on Monday on Newhall Ranch Road near a Home Depot store.

“There was a vehicle in the far right lane that I was trying to signal so I could get over, but the guy didn’t want to let me get over,” Hernandez said. “He just kept driving fast next to my truck, and then he pulled out in front of my truck, slammed his brakes on to stop me in the middle of the intersection, and then he jumped out of the car. Then, he had a knife, and so then he stabbed me with the knife in my hand.”

Video provided by What’s Up Santa Clarita was taken by a woman in another car during the dispute. In it, Hernandez can be seen standing in the road outside his Mercedes. As the two drivers face each other, the other man raises his hand and uses what appears to be a knife to aim it at Hernandez.

According to the victim, the assailant cut him across his palm, then sped off. The Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department said one person is in custody in connection to the case, but it did not release details on that individual’s name or how they apprehended him.

Hernandez’ doctors told him he’s expected to make a full recovery in about six weeks.
