Officers with the Los Angeles Police Department were involved in a tense standoff with a crowd in the Hyde Park area Monday night.
The LAPD said they were called about a possible street takeover in the area. Officers said the group was unruly and blocked the intersection with cars and motorcycles.
A candlelight memorial was seen nearby, but it was not clear if the group was holding a vigil.
It was not clear if anyone was arrested but it was reported that several police cars had their tires slashed.
Most of the crowd dispersed about 30 minutes after police arrived in the South Los Angeles neighborhood.
