Starting pitchers, injury updates and more. What to know about World Series Game 5

The World Series is a best-of-three series entering Game 5 Wednesday when the Dodgers will send ace Blake Snell to the mound in a pitching matchup against the Blue Jays’ rookie phenom.

Toronto knotted the back-and-forth series Tuesday night with a 6-2 victory at Dodger Stadium behind a four-run outburst in the seventh inning. LA staged what looked like the start of a rally in the ninth, but managed just one run. The Blue Jays’ victory ensured the series will return to Toronto for at least one game.

The Dodgers have not captured a World Series title at home since 1963.

Game 6 will be played Friday in Toronto, as would Game 7 Saturday, if necessary.

Here’s what to know about Game 5.

What time is the Dodgers, Blue Jays game?

The Los Angeles Dodgers square off against the Toronto Blue Jays at 5 p.m. Wednesday in Game 5 of the World Series with things tied at 2-2. Wednesday’s game is the eighth time these teams match up this season. The Dodgers have a 4-3 advantage in the season series.

Who will are the starting pitchers?

The Blue Jays will send rookie Trey Yesavage (1-0, 3.21 ERA, 1.43 WHIP, 16 strikeouts) to the mound to face the Dodgers’ Blake Snell (5-4, 2.35 ERA, 1.25 WHIP, 72 strikeouts).

Both started Game 1, an 11-4 Blue Jays blowout in Toronto. Yesavage pitched four innings, giving up four hits, two earned runs and three walks. He struck out five. Snell pitched five innings and gave up eight hits, five earned runs and three walks. He fanned four.

Snell was asked at a news conference Tuesday about what he learned from Game 1.

“I just learned things I did wrong, things I did right,” Snell said. “I can’t really tell you because then that’s telling them.

“Just fastball command needs to be better. That’s apparent to anyone.”

As for the rest of the Dodgers lineup, manager Dave Roberts said he was “going to think long and hard” about it and “it might look a little bit different.”
