Los Angeles County and surrounding communities have several opportunities to honor those who served in the U.S. armed forces on Tuesday.
From Pasadena to Redondo Beach, a handful of tributes and ceremonies will be held throughout the region this Veterans Day. Scroll to see what events are happening near you.
Hermosa Beach
The Hermosa Beach Veterans Day Ceremony is scheduled to start at 10:30 a.m.
The event will be on the East Lawn of the Community Center at the Hermosa Beach Veterans Memorial. Afterward, guests are invited to the Hermosa Beach Museum for a reception and to view submissions for the city’s “Veterans Are Timeless” campaign.
The campaign recognizes veterans who have a special connection to Hermosa Beach. Submissions will also be featured on the city’s social media, website, and local TV channels during November.
Pasadena
Pasadena’s Veterans Day Celebration will be at City Hall and go from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m.
The city’s annual event will honor veterans and the 250th anniversaries of the U.S. Army, Navy, and Marine Corps. There will also be a yellow ribbon ceremony honoring a regiment that recently returned from an overseas deployment.
A keynote speech will be given by Associate Justice Eileen Moore, a decorated Vietnam combat nurse. At 11:11 a.m., there will be a flyover, and attendees can grab a hot dog, view interactive exhibits, and participate in various activities.
Downey
The City of Downey’s Veterans Day Ceremony will be at the Columbia Memorial Space Center from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m.
Hollywood
A Veterans Day event will be at Forest Lawn in the Hollywood Hills starting at 11:00 a.m. The event will feature a keynote speaker, performances, and patriotic music.
Redondo Beach
The Veterans Day Tribute in Redondo Beach will be at the Veterans Memorial in Veterans Park from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m.
Bob Hope Patriotic Hall
The Warrior Heritage Foundation and the Los Angeles County Department of Military and Veterans Affairs will host a Veterans Day celebration from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
There will be bounce houses, food trucks, and a live DJ from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. “The Incredibles” will be shown at 11 a.m., and “American Sniper” at 2 p.m. Attendees can also win prizes, such as UCLA game tickets.
All proceeds from the event will go toward the foundation’s With Your Shield military transition program.
San Fernando Valley Parade
A Veterans Day parade will be held in the San Fernando Valley from 11 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.
The parade will begin at the corner of San Fernando Mission Boulevard and Laurel Canyon Boulevard, and travel 1.1 miles south to Paxton Street.
El Toro Memorial Park
The 36th annual El Toro Memorial Park’s Veterans Day Program will begin at 11 a.m.
Gerald Freibrun, who served with the 31st Marine Expeditionary Unit from 2020 to 2024, will be the keynote speaker. There will also be a combined color guard, a wreath presentation, and an honor guard firing salute.
Anaheim
The City of Anaheim’s Veterans Day event will be held near the Veterans Monument in the Anaheim Packing District from 11 a.m. to 12 p.m.
There will be guest speakers and patriotic music.
San Bernardino
San Bernardino County Regional Parks will honor both veterans and active duty members of the armed forces with free park admission. Parks are open from 7:30 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Military ID must be shown for access.
Eastvale
The City of Eastvale’s Veterans Day Ceremony will be at American Heroes Park starting at 8 a.m.
