SF police arrest man after hours-long standoff in Tenderloin

Police in San Francisco arrested a man Friday morning after an hours-long standoff that began Thursday night, according to the police department.

At about 9:20 p.m. Thursday, San Francisco officers responded to the area of Taylor and Jones streets in the city’s Tenderloin neighborhood after a shot-spotter activation, police said.

When officers arrived, they found a man inside a building barricaded in a room and refusing to leave, police said. SFPD negotiators also responded to the scene.

Video showed the man sitting on an upper level window sill with his legs dangling over the edge.

Just after 6 a.m. Friday, the man was taken into custody, police said.

It was unclear if the man was armed during the standoff.
