San Jose apartment complex fire destroys 3 homes, displaces 4

A three-alarm fire at a San Jose apartment building overnight Friday destroyed at least three units, according to fire officials.

Just after 11 p.m. Thursday, crews responded to Del Mar Avenue on reports of a car fire, fire officials said. By the time firefighters arrived, the flames had spread to the carport and into the building.

The blaze destroyed at least three apartments and displaced four adults, fire officials said.

No injuries were reported.

The Red Cross responded to the scene to help find housing for the displaced residents.

Arson investigators also responded, but fire crews said it is standard procedure for a fire of that size.
