Garbage collection service will resume for Republic Services customers in the Bay Area after a tentative deal has been reached, union and company officials said late Friday.
Workers went on strike 10 days ago and brought trash collection to a halt for residents in 24 Bay Area cities.
Trash collection services is expected to resume Saturday. Union members are scheduled to vote on the proposed contract on Sunday.
The union said the new deal will include a 10% pay increase and other added benefits.
“We appreciate the community’s patience throughout this situation, and we will work hard to catch up with needed recycling and waste collection as quickly as we can,” Republic Services said in a statement.
