A PG&E spokesperson said Saturday evening that electricity has been fully restored to 51,000 customers in southern Alameda County affected by a widespread power outage.
The outage began at 6:54 p.m. and affected a sizable portion of the cities of Fremont, Newark and Union City and the southern portion of Hayward.
Just after 9 p.m., 34,000 of those customers — in Union City and south Hayward — had power restored.
At 9:29 p.m., the remaining 17,000 customers affected in Fremont and Newark had power restored, according to J.D. Guidi, a PG&E spokesperson.
Guidi said the cause of the outage is under investigation.
