
One person was wounded in an officer-involved shooting Saturday afternoon at the El Cerrito del Norte Station, BART officials said.
At around 2 p.m. officers responded to a domestic disturbance on a BART train. Witnesses reported a verbal argument between a man and a woman, and said that one of the people involved had a gun in his waistband.
Two officers approached the suspect, who ran off the train and onto the platform at the El Cerrito del Norte Station. The suspect then ran onto the tracks.
Officials said that it is not yet known how many shots were fired.
The suspect sustained life-threatening injuries and was transported to a hospital, police said.
BART police are recovering video from the platform, body cameras and the train.
According to BART, there is currently limited train service on the Orange and Red lines. Trains are running on the Red line between North Berkeley and Daly City.
Trains are running on the Orange line between El Cerrito del Norte and Warm Springs. Officials confirmed that El Cerrito del Norte and Richmond BART stations remain closed as police investigate.
According to a tweet by SF BART, a gun was recovered at the scene.
