One shot dead during attempted Granada Hills home invasion

A homeowner in Granada Hills shot and killed a man during an attempted home invasion robbery Saturday morning, the Los Angeles Police Department said.

At around 5 a.m., police responded to a home on the 11400 block of Swinton Avenue.

According to LAPD’s preliminary investigation, a group of three to four men in their 20s had entered the home with the attempt to burglarize it.

One of the suspected robbers pointed a weapon at the victim and a shooting occurred. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

The three other men fled the scene. It is believed another one of them might have been injured during the incident, due to a trail of blood left behind, police said.

A car found at the scene was believed to have been used during the attempted robbery.

The homeowner, a grandmother and a child were inside the home, according to police.

No further details were immediately available. Anyone with information is encouraged to contact LAPD.
