Detectives are investigating after a man was beaten to death with a large stick in Rowland Heights, the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department said on Sunday.
Deputies were called to the 18000 block of Colima Road for a call of an assault with a deadly weapon. At the scene, they found a man suffering from blunt force trauma injuries.
First responders with the LA County Fire Department also responded to the call and determined the victim died at the scene.
As the investigation continued, law enforcement learned that the assailant struck the victim with a large stick. That individual was seen leaving the area on a bus but deputies were able to stop it and detain the suspect.
A motive for the assault is not clear. The investigation is ongoing.
