A 61-year-old man suspected of attempting to kidnap a 12-year-old girl by allegedly grabbing her and trying to place her in his vehicle in Corona has been taken into custody, authorities announced on Friday.
Deputies from the Lake Mathews Sheriff’s Station were dispatched around 4:13 p.m. Tuesday regarding a kidnapping in the 25000 block of Santiago Canyon Road, according to the Riverside County Sheriff’s Office.
Responding deputies learned the victim had escaped and sought help from a nearby adult witness after a person attempted to allegedly place her inside his vehicle.
Investigators obtained a detailed description of the suspect vehicle and later located a suspect identified as Delory Sinclair of Corona. They were taken into custody in the 11000 block of De Palma Road in an unincorporated area of Temescal Valley in Corona.
Police said Sinclair is also suspected of trying to kidnap another girl who was 14 years old.
Sheriff’s officials said that both victims did not sustain any reported injuries, and that the investigation was being handled by Lake Mathew Station detectives.
A search warrant was executed on Wednesday at Sinclair’s residence in the 26000 block of Blackhorse Circle, in an area of Horsethief Canyon in Corona. Investigators seized evidence related to the alleged kidnapping, along with large quantities of illegal narcotics, sheriff’s officials said.
Sinclar was booked into the Robert Presley Detention Center on suspicion of kidnapping, attempted kidnapping, annoying or molesting a minor, and possession of illegal narcotics. He was being held on $1 million bail.
Anyone with information about the alleged kidnapping incidents was urged to contact the Lake Mathews Sheriff’s Station at 951-272-5600.
