Six months on the job and so far San Francisco Mayor Daniel Lurie is in the midst of a political honeymoon.
His approval ratings are sky-high, but he’s still getting a lot of criticism for how he’s handling some key issues.
Lurie on Thursday signed a $16 billion budget plan. It closes a historic $800 million deficit.
Immediately after signing the budget, NBC Bay Area’s Raj Mathai went behind the scenes with Lurie at San Francisco’s new permit center on South Van Ness. This is among his new initiatives to cut red tape in getting a permit – essentially making it easier for small businesses and homeowners to build or make improvements.
Lurie also addressed other major issues such as public safety and criticism over the city’s homelessness problem.
