High-speed pursuit ends in crash on 5 Freeway transition Ramp

A high-speed chase that began in Hollywood ended late Friday night when a driver crashed into a sidewall on a freeway transition ramp in the San Fernando Valley.

The chase started around 10 p.m. when officers attempted to stop a vehicle for reckless driving in Hollywood, according to the California Highway Patrol.

The driver failed to yield and sped onto the freeway, reaching speeds over 120 mph as the car weaved through traffic on surface streets and freeways.

CHP officers took over the pursuit as the suspect vehicle headed south on the 5 Freeway. The driver then attempted to transition to the northbound 2 Freeway. Here the driver lost control and crashed along the sidewall of the ramp.
