Former apartment manager arrested after ‘identity theft' bust in Santa Clara County

The SNAP benefit halt means there are several ways Bay Area communities are helping each other right now.

In San Jose, Recovery Cafe was the beneficiary of a special fundraiser Sunday.

Its next-door neighbor, Urban Sanctuary Church, organized a morning of music, brunch, and giving, to support the nonprofit.

Recovery Cafe helps people recovering from homelessness, addiction, and mental illness with community and programs.

The organization says it is seeing an increase in food insecurity, especially for those who rely on SNAP for meals.

“We are providing and bringing people in. Once they are members, they can get breakfast and lunch here. hoping to do dinners… to feel supported,” said Erin Campos with Recovery Cafe.

Recovery Cafe says one of its priorities now is to secure more funding to meet increased need.
