Crews battle structure fire in Pasadena

Firefighters were battling a structure fire on Wednesday that broke out inside an office building in Pasadena.

The fire was reported around 5:47 p.m. at the General Motors Design Center on the east side of town, according to Lisa Derderian with the Pasadena Fire Department.

During the response, a mayday was declared as fire crews attempted to locate a missing captain, Derderian said. The captain was found minutes later.

At least 60 firefighters and crews from nearby fire departments were assisting with the blaze. Several batteries were reported to be on fire, according to the Pasadena Fire Department.

It’s unclear if anyone was injured.

NewsChopper4 was over the scene where at least a dozen firetrucks were lined up around the perimeter of the fire. Streets were closed near the fire and drivers were advised to avoid the area.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation
