Congress to halt military use of toxic foam contaminating drinking water

After months of negotiations, Congress has reached a deal that would require the Defense Department to phase out the use of PFAS-containing firefighting foam, which has tainted drinking water sources. But environmental groups and some Democrats have accused Republicans of failing to protect public health by stripping the bill of stronger regulations.
