
A child was killed and several others were injured Wednesday after a tree branch fell on top of park-goers in Calabasas, authorities said.
The incident was reported around 2:45 p.m. at the King Gillette Ranch in the 26800 block of Mulholland Highway.
The tree branch fell, injuring four and killing a young camper, according to the Lost Hills Sheriff’s Department. Two others were hospitalized with minor injuries.
“We are devastated by the tragic loss of a young child at a summer camp at King Gillette Ranch in the Santa Monica Mountains. Words cannot express the depth of our sorrow. Our hearts are with the child’s family, friends, and all those affected by this unimaginable tragedy,” wrote the Mountains Recreation and Conservation Authority.
The identity of the deceased was not immediately available.
