Car plows into South San Jose home; no major injuries

A car plowed into a home in San Jose over the weekend in what neighbors are saying is a dangerous intersection.

The horrific crash occurred on Beswick Drive between Blossom Hill and Cottle roads in South San Jose. Neighbors are calling on the city to address an intersection where they say speed is a frequent problem.

The crash happened fast, with a car careening off the roadway and into a home, putting two children inside the vehicle at risk. No one inside the home was hurt, and the kids in the car were OK. The condition of the driver was not provided.

San Jose police obtained video proof of the crash. Dash cam footage from another driver captures the moment when that car plowed into the home. Witnesses say a man was driving with two young girls inside the car. Inside the home, a baby in their carrier went flying.

“We run over there and see a car right in their house, and then I hear the people inside, they’re panicking and yelling. There were people screaming,” neighbor Sandra Arambula said.

Neighbors say it’s the second time a car has jumped the curb and crashed into the same house. They say speed is a problem on Beswick.

“They drive by like it’s the Indy 500 over here. It’s ridiculous,” neighbor Michelle Smith said.

Beswick Drive has traffic calming elements, with a center divide and one lane of traffic in each direction.
