Brentwood police on alert ahead of potential large teen gathering

Brentwood police are trying to get ahead of any potential new large-scale teen gatherings this weekend following a chaotic situation a week ago.

Roughly 300 teenagers gathered last week at two shopping centers — Sand Creek Crossing and The Streets of Brentwood. Police said there was fighting and some teens broke into stores or tried to, forcing some businesses to lock up and close early.

By the end of it all, one teen was taken into custody for battery of a police officer. Four others were cited for misdemeanors.

Police said another gathering for this weekend is organizing on social media, this time at Lone Tree Plaza. In a community alert, the police department said it will have extra officers throughout the city. Police are also working with local businesses and asking parents and guardians to make sure to know what their children have planned this weekend.
