Boy, 10, Shot and Killed While Riding With His Family in Car

A 10-year-old boy riding in the back seat of a car with his family was shot and killed late Sunday in La Puente.

The shooting, which appears to be car-to-car, was reported about 9:43 p.m. Sunday on North Hacienda Boulevard at Amar Road in the community about 20 miles east of downtown Los Angeles. The family called 911 and met up with deputies in the 500 block of Fifth St., at Temple Avenue.

The child died at a hospital. His sibling and parents were in the car when he was struck in the upper body by gunfire.

No arrests were reported early Monday. A detailed description of the shooter was not immediately available.

The shooter’s car was described only as a dark sedan.

Several business are located near the shooting, so deputies plan to seek security camera video.
