Authorities Investigate Freeway Shooting, Crash That Left 1 Dead in SF

Authorities in San Francisco were investigating a freeway shooting and crash late Monday night that left one person dead and another wounded, according to the California Highway Patrol.

A little before 11 p.m., southbound Highway 101 was closed before the Cesar Chavez exit for the investigation, the CHP said.

The shooting was reported around 9:30 p.m. near the Cesar Chavez offramp, the CHP said. One person was killed and a second was injured by gunfire, CHP Officer Jonathan Franzen confirmed.

It wasn’t immediately clear when the lanes would reopen.

Motorists were asked to avoid the area.
