All lanes of eastbound and westbound Interstate Highway 580
have reopened in Oakland following a fatal vehicle vs. pedestrian collision
early Wednesday morning, according to the California Highway Patrol.
The collision, first reported at 4:06 a.m. on the westbound
side just east of Lakeshore Avenue, forced the full closure of both sides until
just after 5 a.m. Both directions and all lanes were reopened by 5:47 a.m.
A CHP spokesperson didn’t immediately respond to a request
for further information on the collision. No further information is immediately
available.
