At least five people were injured by illegal fireworks in Antioch.
The incident was reported after midnight early Saturday morning along the 2200 block of Spanos Street.
All five people injured, including one critically hurt, were taken to a hospital. Fire officials said another man drove himself to the hospital where he was treated for burns as well.
Two questions investigators are still trying to answer:
- Where were the fireworks purchased?
- Who brought them to the neighborhood?
Contra Costa County Fire Protection District said overall calls for illegal fireworks are down this year, but officials want more people to get the message, especially those who might still have some unused illegal fireworks.
