3 killed, suspect included, during shooting involving police officer in South Gate

Three people were killed – including one person law enforcement described as a suspect – during a shooting in South Gate that involved police, the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department said.

The shooting was reported just before 2:30 a.m. Saturday along San Luis Avenue in South Gate, LASD said.  There, two women were pronounced dead at the scene and a third woman was taken to a nearby hospital. The severity of the injuries the surviving woman endured was not immediately disclosed.

Officials added that the suspect was also pronounced dead at the scene.

LASD did not specify how the deceased were killed, but said sheriff’s deputies were called to assist South Gate police with an “officer-involved shooting.” Details on what led up to the shooting were not clear.
