1 Dead, 2 Others Hurt in San Jose Crash: Police

A fatal collision between two vehicles Saturday evening closed a major San Jose intersection.

The San Jose Police Department said that the crash occurred at Berryessa Road and Gurnee Court, one block west of Piedmont Road. The collision occurred about one-fourth mile from Piedmont Hills High School.

One of the drivers has been pronounced dead at the scene. A passenger suffered moderate injuries.

The driver of the second vehicle suffered minor injuries.

The intersection of Berryessa and Piedmont roads was closed for several hours Saturday. A police spokesperson said motorists were advised to use alternate routes.

There are no further details.

Official said this is the city’s 11th traffic fatality and the 12th victim of 2022.
