A pursuit driver was speeding the wrong way Wednesday morning on a Carson street when the car went into a spin, rolled onto its side and slammed into a parked van.
The chase began in the South Los Angeles area. It ended after the driver turned around and went the wrong way on a freeway entrance ramp, then crashed into the van on a nearby streets.
The driver appeared to be smoking a cigarette and talking on a cellphone in the car during a brief standoff. After he got out, officers used a stun gun on him before he was taken into custody.
Details about why the chase began were not immediately available.
