As Southern California prepares for significant rainfall this weekend, officials and fire stations have opened up free sandbag stations across the southern region.
State officials have warned residents, especially those in the recent burn scar areas, to prepare for the heavy rain. Proof of residency is required for some sandbag distribution sites, including Altadena and Malibu.
Los Angeles County
- Public Works Fleet Maintenance Yard – 252 Mountain View St., Altadena, CA 91001
- Malibu Library, Parking Lot – 23519 W. Civic Center Way, Malibu, CA 90265
- City of West Hollywood’s Operations Center, 8300 Santa Monica Boulevard between La Cienega and Fairfax
Inland Empire
- A limited number of unfilled sandbags are available at all Cal Fire, Riverside County Fire Department stations.
- Coachella Public Works – 53462 Enterprise Way, Coachella, CA 92236
Ventura County
- Ventura County residents can get filled sandbags at 24 different VCFD stations. Full list here.

- Tustin Sports Park – 12850 Robinson Drive, Tustin, CA 92780
- Most Orange County Fire Authority fire stations have empty sandbags available. A map of OCFA fire stations that offer both sand and sandbags can be found here.
