Water Main Break in Hollywood Sends Water 30 Feet in Air, Damages Roof

Water rocketing 30 feet into the air from a broken water main flooded streets, caused a sinkhole and led to evacuations Thursday night after a saturated roof collapsed in Hollywood.

The incident was reported at around 9:30 p.m. near 6050 W. Fountain Ave.

Aerial footage showed the roof of a home nearby had collapsed due to water damage. Several homes in the area have been evacuated as a precaution.

A woman was rescued by firefighters from a nearby two-story residence where the roof collapsed. The property was red-tagged by the Los Angeles Department of Building and Safety.

Several homes in the area were evacuated.
