USC issues alert of man posing as building manager to enter homes

The University of Southern California issued a warning Friday to students and the nearby community of a man posing as a representative of a building management company.

Multiple incidents were reported by tenants at residences on the 1100 block of 28th Street and the 2600 block of Orchard Avenue.

The man allegedly uses the guise to enter residents’ homes. In one instance, the man accessed a home under the pretense of repairing a water leak, USC said.

“Once inside, the individual entered residents’ rooms and began asking inappropriate personal questions, including inquiries about their romantic relationships,” wrote USC in a press release.

USC’s Department of Public Safety urges community members to verify the identity of anyone who attempts to come into their home by contacting their building management company.
