Shohei Ohtani homers, Dodgers strand season-high 16 runners in 5-4 loss to Blue Jays

Law enforcement is investigating after an explosion in Inglewood rocked a neighborhood just a few blocks away from a high school, officials said.

The explosion happened Sunday afternoon shortly after a masked man was seen on the front porch of an apartment on the 600 block of South Grevillea Avenue. There, the man knocked on the door of the home and demanded his money. After the man left the scene, an explosion was heard in the area.

Maria Guttierez, who lives in the area, said she heard the commotion.

“I’m cleaning my house and coming down and I hear like ‘boom,’ like a big explosion,” she said.

The second-floor apartment sustained major damage from the incident, according to Capt. Neal Cochran of the Inglewood Police Department. It’s unclear what tool was used in the detonation.

“In my 25 years of working here, I’ve never heard of such a call,” Cochran said. “So, it definitely is out of the box.”

No injuries were reported on Sunday. Police are still searching for the individual who set off the explosion.

“We need the public’s help,” Cochran said. “If they saw anything, if they saw anyone get into a car, let us know. If anyone has a Ring bell or any video that may have captured something, we’d appreciate it.”
