San Jose Día de los Muertos festival still sidelined amid immigration fears

A convicted felon was arrested after officers found a “ghost gun” and drugs in his possession, the Petaluma Police Department said Friday.

On Thursday, police said an officer attempted to stop a vehicle for observed traffic violations southbound Highway 101, south of Kastania Road.

The driver, later identified as 41-year-old Kenneth Douglas, failed to yield and led officers on a brief vehicle pursuit, according to officials. Authorities report Douglas lost control and crashed his vehicle while attempting to maneuver the roundabout at Petaluma Boulevard South and Crystal Lane at a high rate of speed.

Douglas fled from the vehicle on foot, and he was located hiding nearby in thick vegetation, officials said.

Police report Douglas, who was later confirmed to be on Post-Release Community Supervision with several outstanding felony warrants, was taken into custody. Police add officers located a loaded, unserialized “ghost gun” after a search of the area. Douglas, who is a convicted felon, is legally prohibited from possessing firearms or ammunition, according to the police department.

Officials state officers also located methamphetamine, a methamphetamine smoking pipe and fake ID’s in Douglas’ possession. Douglas was booked into the Sonoma County Jail.
