A police pursuit that started in the San Gabriel Valley ended in shots fired at a home in Upland Sunday night.
According to the California Highway Patrol, officers attempted to stop a driver at around 11:35 p.m. Sunday on the 10 Freeway in Baldwin Park.
The CHP said two teenagers, both reported to be 17 years old, in a dark colored Audi were driving with their lights off and at a high rate of speed over 100 miles per hour.
Officers looked up the car and discovered it had been involved in multiple robberies earlier in the day as well as an armed carjacking, according to Officer Rodrigo Jimenez.
The robberies were reported to have happened in the Downey and Whittier area.
The officers had a second CHP unit arrive to assist and a pursuit began. But when the driver entered the freeway going the wrong way, they deemed it too dangerous and waited for a third CHP unit to help.
The pursuit then continued in the correct direction until officers were able to successfully conduct a PIT maneuver.
The driver and passenger ran from officers and toward a home. One of them was arrested immediately while the other shot at officers.
A homeowner called the police to report an intruder. More gunfire was exchanged when the other teenager was inside the home.
Officers and the homeowner were not injured in the gunfire, but one of the teenagers was shot in the arm and leg. They were transported to the hospital in stable condition, according to CHP.
Euclid Avenue was closed between 8th Street and the 10 Freeway as the CHP continued their investigation.
