Police Impostors Point Gun at Female Driver in El Monte

Police on Thursday sought the public’s help to find armed police impostors in El Monte.

Two men in a truck pulled a woman over at Valley Boulevard and Garvey Avenue and said they were officers.

When the woman asked for their IDs, one of the men pulled out a gun while the second man acted as if he was getting on a police radio, stating he had an unruly subject and they needed additional units to respond, said Lt. Michael Buckhannon, of the El Monte Police Department.

They took her purse and $600 worth of property and money, Buckhannon said.

The suspects were last seen headed east on Valley Boulevard.

Both are described as Hispanic and about 5 feet 6 inches tall. The driver is about 20 years old, weighs around 160 pounds and has black hair, a dark complexion with acne on his cheeks and was wearing a black long-sleeved shirt and jeans.

The other suspect, who is thought to be about 16 years old, weighs around 110 pounds and has black hair, a light complexion, clean-shaven face and was wearing a black T-shirt and black jeans.
