A person was pronounced dead after crashing with a fire hydrant and a parked car in Santa Rosa Sunday morning, the police department said.
Officers responded to the area of W 8th Street and Warren Lane at around 5:30 a.m. after receiving a report that someone had hit a fire hydrant and another parked vehicle, according to officials.
The Santa Rosa Fire Department also answered the call. Police said the driver of a Chevrolet pickup truck was pronounced dead at the scene.
An initial investigation showed the Chevrolet was speeding southbound on Warren Lane when it struck a fire hydrant and then crashed with a parked car near the intersection of W 8th Street and Warren Lane, according to authorities.
Police said the cause of the crash and any possible impairment are under investigation.
