Moving in and out: New data shows more people are leaving California

For the fifth year in a row, U-Haul says more people are renting their trucks to leave California than to move in. 

The latest stats show a tight margin between arrivals at 49 percent and departures at 51 percent. 

U-Haul dealers and local real estate agents tell us it’s not so much because of the pandemic as it is due to our skyrocketing home prices that are still driving folks to places where they can get homes for less money.

The top places where people are moving to include Portland, Las Vegas, Phoenix and Austin.
