Highway 101 at Oyster Point in South San Francisco was closed indefinitely in both directions Saturday morning due to major flooding, according to the California Highway Patrol.
Caltrans crews responded to the scene to work on clearing the water from the roadway, and the CHP said the estimated time for reopening was 10 p.m.
Heavy rainfall and high tides were contributing to the lengthy delay in clearing the drains to get rid of the standing water, the CHP said.
The CHP urged motorists to avoid the area and advised using Interstate 280 as an alternate route.
