Justice Department expands inquiry into its own Russia investigation, but scope is uncertain

Justice Department adds a criminal element to its investigation of the origins of the probe into Russia’s efforts to influence the 2016 election. But lawyers familiar with the matter say the criminal part of the case could involve a low-level official who may have lied to investigators.
